Pasta day with Ofishial Foods- Ready Meals delivered to your door.

Published: October 22nd, 2020

October 25th is World Pasta Day, so how about celebrating it with some delicious frozen ready meals from Ofishial Foods?

It is made from an unleavened dough, meaning it is unraised. So, it doesn’t contain yeast or baking powder.

It was first eaten in China and not in Italy as many people would think. The Italians eat an enormous amount of pasta every year – equivalent to 600 million kilometres of Spaghetti!

The third president of America, Thomas Jefferson first brought pasta back to the states in 1793 when he came back from his travels with a recipe for Macaroni Cheese.

There are approximately 600 different shapes of pasta.

In 1957, for April Fool’s Day the BBC claimed that pasta actually grows on trees!

Spaghetti.

Our delicious Spaghetti Bolognese ready meal is made from a rich tomato sauce with an added ingredient of mushroom ketchup from Geo Watkins, is always a popular dish. I’m hoping that in our new brochure we will be introducing a Vegetarian Spaghetti Bolognese – we are just researching the best meat ‘substitutes’, to make sure we have the best nutritionally balanced meal possible.

Incidentally spaghetti means thin string or twine.

Macaroni.

In our Cotswolds HQ kitchen one of our best-selling cooked meals is our Macaroni Cheese. We make a traditional plain one with lashings of creamy cheese sauce and a hint of garlic, topped with a smattering of bread crumbs. Or you can choose from Leek and Smoked Cheese or with Bacon. As with most of our other meals they come in two different sizes – small and medium.

Lasagne.

We make 3 different types of lasagne for home delivery. There is the traditional Beef lasagne made with minced beef from Barry The Butcher, layered with creamy bechamel sauce, topped with mature Cheddar Cheese. Or we have Roasted Vegetable Lasagne, this includes sweet potato, peppers, carrots, butternut squash onions, mushrooms and leeks. Then there is our Seafood Lasagne, a delicious combination of fish, spinach and tomato sauce, sandwiched between layers of pasta and topped with cheese.

Penne Pasta.

So named because it is shaped like a nib of a pen, as the tubes are cut at angle.

Our Sausage and Pasta bake is an absolute winner on cold winters nights. Little balls of sausage meat, combined with tubes of penne pasta and a garlicky tomato sauce, finally topped with a sprinkling of cheddar cheese.

and finally.

Vegetarians can delight in our tasty Mushroom Ravioli, it was new into our brochure this year and has proved to be very popular. Gorgeous parcels of pasta stuffed with mushrooms, topped with a creamy sauce made from porcini and mushrooms. My mouth is watering just writing about it!

Remember if you like the sound of our meals, we deliver free to our local area. Just give us a call to find out which your delivery day is. You can order with us over the phone or via the website.
